The Hare and the Tortoise

 The Hare and the Tortoise

Once, a hare was wandering about in a green field. By chance, he saw a tortoise, which was moving at a very slow speed. The hare made fun of his slow speed. The tortoise did not mind but gave him an open challenge to run a race with him. The hare readily accepted the challenge.

The starting and reaching points were decided. Both the little animals started running the race. The tortoise kept running at his usual slow speed. But the hare picked up at once his fastest speed to reach the winning point. He reached the halfway within a few minutes.

The hare was lazy. He felt like sleeping. He looked behind to see the tortoise. But he was not visible to him anywhere.

Thinking that the tortoise would reach there in half an hour, he lay down on the green grass and fell asleep. After fifteen minutes, the tortoise passed that place. He saw the hare snoring in sleep. But he did not stop. He kept on moving.

After some time, he reached the winning post. Other animals in the forest were already waiting for the winner. They started clapping for the tortoise.

In the meantime, the hare woke up. He started running in a hurry.

But alas! When he reached the winning post, the tortoise was already declared the winner. The hare felt ashamed and ran away from that place.

The eastern part of the sky becomes reddish yellow due to the rising sun’s rays. A few milkmen can be seen going to the city to distribute milk there. Several labourers and farmers of the village go to do their work in the fields. Women of the village also get up early in the morning. They feed and milk their cattle. Some boys and girls are going to attend their schools and colleges. Some men and women are also going to cities to do their duty. In short, a morning scene in a village is marvelous.

4. Morning Walk

A morning walk is very necessary for health. The air is fresh and cool in the morning. You can inhale a lot of pure oxygen by walking early in the morning. You can see many people walking on the roads and in the parks in cities. It shows they are very conscious (careful) about their health. In cities, we can find many people doing yoga exercises, meditation, laughter exercises, and jogging. Some people do cycling. 5.My School

My school is in a city. It is a very large three-story building. It has one playground, one badminton court, and basketball ground. It has well-furnished classrooms. There are two audio-visual classrooms. It has two big lush green parks also. There are 4000 books in our library. It has a music room also. Several types of musical instruments are there. Our morning assembly begins in a very impressive way. After prayer, there are some activities like news reading, explaining the thought for the day, asking general knowledge questions, etc. The students from each House take part in them. The teachers are very polite and well qualified. They all are hard working. I love my school very much.

6. My Class-room

I study in class XII. My classroom is very big. Forty students can easily sit in it. It has windows and ventilators. It has four fans and two ACs. When there is a heatwave, air-conditioners make the room cool and comfortable. There is a projector and a screen also in our classroom. On one side of the screen, there is a green board. Teachers use the green board whenever they like. We throw waste material in a dustbin. It is put in one corner of the room. We eat our lunch while sitting on the benches. 7.A Day in a Village

I live in a city. My friend lives in a small village. He invited me last month to visit his village. I reached there at around 11 a.m. He was very happy to meet me. First, he served me a glass of milk with some snacks. Then we went to see the village. The streets were all cemented. The drains were also properly cleaned. I also saw the village dispensary, Panchayat Bhavan, old age home, and the village school. I also talked to the village people. They were all very kind and helpful.  There were green fields around the village. There was no pollution. In lunch I ate ‘makki ki roti and sarson ka saag’. It was very delicious. In the evening, I came back to my city. It was a very good experience.

8. My Aim in Life

I have an aim to become a doctor. It is a noble profession. I know that will have to work hard to become a doctor. If I become a doctor, I will open my clinic in a village. I want to serve poor people there. I will tell the villagers how to stay safe from diseases. I will teach them to keep their surroundings clean. If anyone falls ill, I will treat the person on minimum fees. Most of the people have to go to cities for their treatment. The doctors in cities charge heavy fees from them. But I will not do it.

Letter to the Editor of a newspaper to Traffic Police Implementing Traffic Rules

8. A Letter to the Editor of a newspaper inviting attention of police to the need of implementing traffic rules in your city.

456, Shashtri Nagar,
Bilaspur
March 02, 20__

The Editor
The Tribune
Chandigarh

Subject: Inviting Attention of Police to the Need of Implementing Traffic Rules
Sir,
Through the columns of your esteemed newspaper, I wish to draw the attention of the police authorities to the need of implementing traffic rules strictly.
In our city, traffic rules are being violated with impunity. It is not a new thing. One can see people riding motor bikes without helmets. The youngsters do not have driving licenses and they do not wear helmets also. Not only this, they drive very carelessly and pose danger to others’ lives.
It has also been seen in the evenings that some bike riders do stunt in the posh area of sector 17. They drive at a high speed and create loud noise and shouting. Such things must be stopped.
Most of the heavy vehicles passing the roads of our city are overloaded. The tractors and trailers passing the roads do not have dipper lights and these are even overloaded with sugarcane. They pose danger to other vehicles.
The drivers of the three wheelers are uneducated in traffic rules. They also overload students. They drive their vehicles carelessly. They stop any time on seeing any customer.
So I appeal to the police authorities to implement traffic rules strictly.
Thanking,
Avinash Goel
