Sir/Madam,

I wish to draw the kind attention of the authorities concerned and the public in general to the pig menace spread almost in every town and city.

We all are well acquainted with PM Modi’s most popular campaign ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. Newspapers update about the progress of this ‘Abhiyaan’ from time to time. No doubt, the people of the country are well-motivated to make it successful by their efforts.

But, in my humble opinion, we cannot ignore the problems caused by pigs in town and cities. They come in a platoon and spread dirt here and there. They feed themselves on dirty water and the eatables thrown in some empty plots. I know that some people are still uneducated about the ‘Swachhata Abhiyan. That is the reason why pigs keep on wandering in the localities. They not only spread dirt but also diseases through mosquitoes. When a mosquito bites a pig, it carries a very dangerous virus with it. After that, it bites human beings and spreads the disease called ‘Japanese encephalitis’. Moreover, pigs make their surroundings dirty. They should be kept in a pigsty and not be allowed to wander about here and there.

I hope that my views would certainly catch the attention of the authorities concerned and deal with the problem immediately. People are also requested not to throw eatables here and there.

Through the columns of your esteemed newspaper, I wish to draw the attention of the public and the authorities concerned to the noise pollution caused by the improper use of loudspeakers. I hope you will surely provide some space to my views.

The loudspeaker is one of the gifts given to us by science. These are used to magnify the sound so that it reaches human ears at some comfortable pitch.

But, we all are well aware of how this wonderful gift of science is being misused everywhere in our country.

The morning begins not with the chirping of birds, the crowing of a cock, but it begins with the blaring sound of the loudspeakers installed at the top of the buildings of worshipping places. In cities, it may be less in practice, but in villages, there is a lot of noise pollution. During the day also, we find much misuse of loudspeakers. At night, if there is a religious function, a marriage, and a reception party in some locality, then, no one can sleep there properly till midnight.

No one cares for the students who are to study. No one cares for the children, the old men and women, and the patients who are to take rest and sleep. There is a law for curbing the menace created by the improper use of loudspeakers. But nobody bothers about it.

I hope the points raised here are relevant in this context and these would certainly stir the sleeping conscience of the public in general and the authorities concerned.

The rise in price of all the necessary goods is a matter of concern (worry) not only for the poor, but also for the people of the middle class in developing countries. Usually the people blame the government for not curbing (restricting/controlling) the sudden spurt (rise) in prices of the commodities (things) of daily use. Some of the reasons for the rise in prices are not under the direct control of the Govt. But the political parties often raise issues like this to push the Govt. at its back-foot. The ruling party cannot escape bearing the brunt (impact) of such flaring (erupting) situations. The Govt. will have to maintain the balance between the demand and supply, at least, of the commodities of daily use. If the shortage of a certain commodity is due to some man-made causes, then the Govt. must stop black-marketing and hoarding of that thing. The culprits (the wrong-doers) must be punished severely. If the shortage is due to some natural calamity (disaster), the government must import that thing from a foreign country. In case, the prices of the perishable goods have gone up because of the rise in petro-prices, then the government should decrease tax that is levied on the sale of petrol and diesel. So the state as well as the central governments must cooperate with each other to keep the prices of the necessary goods under control.

Blood donation is the best kind of service done to human beings. Some people are well aware about the value of donating blood, but there are many who are still unaware of this fact. Sometimes, blood is needed for their close relative or any of their family members. Then they come to know the real value of blood. After that, they run from pillar to post in search of blood or any donor of blood. So blood donation is very important for all of us. Sometimes, a patient may need blood of a rare group. In that case, one can easily approach a nearby blood bank and procure it immediately. So, the students of schools and colleges should be made well aware about the importance of blood donation. There is a misunderstanding in the minds of some students or people that blood donation makes the donor the victim of some fatal disease. This is not true. The donor is properly examined by the doctor present there to ascertain if the donor is fit to donate blood or not. Blood is also tested before it is administered in the body of the patients. Nor is it true that one becomes weak after donating blood. One can regain the same amount of blood as is donated within twenty four hours. So we should always be ready to donate blood.

The Annual Day Celebrations in My School

We all rejoice in celebrations whenever they occur in our life. We do not let even a single moment go waste while celebrating any important day or occasion. The Annual Day celebrations in my school bring lots of enjoyment to every student and even teachers of my school. The preparations begin two weeks before the day. The Annual Day of my school was celebrated on May 07 this year. It was really  a gala day for all. The parents sat in the auditorium well before time. The participants were ready to listen to the call of the announcer. The Chief Guest was ushered in to occupy the seat. There was a loud clapping from the audience. The Principal came on the stage and welcomed the chief guest and other invitees. He read out the annual speech also. After that,  a prayer was sung by girls and it was followed by a few entertaining items. The Chief Guest was invited to give away the prizes and deliver a speech. He appreciated the Principal, the staff and the management of school for the progress they made in a very short span of time. He also announced a donation of Rs one lakh for the school. The function ended at 1 p.m. sharp.

General awareness about equality of women with men is being spread by means of print and electronic media. We hope that in near future there would be a great change in the mindset of men who are still backward in their thoughts.

My Visit to a Hill station

Visiting places increases our knowledge about people, their traditions and culture. I am fond of visiting different places along with my parents. Last year, we visited a hill station, i.e. Shimla. It is situated in Himachal Pradesh. My father had already booked a suite in a hotel. We reached there before noon. First of all, we relaxed for one hour and took tea with some snacks. Then we went to the Jakhoo temple. We had to reach the top of a hill. There were a great number of monkeys. We offered prayers in front of ‘Hanumaanji’ there. In the afternoon we went for shopping on the Mall road. People from various places were wandering about there. Some foreigners were also among them. After eating dinner, we reached the ridge. We enjoyed watching the snow-covered mountain peaks visible at a distance from there. The weather was fine and a cool breeze was blowing. We also saw floating clouds at the ridge. We returned to our home the next morning. It was really a memorable visit of mine.

The fear of the punishment or bad consequences makes the person follow it. Some people follow discipline naturally while many others follow it due to the fear of punishment. When the proper time comes, revolution erupts in various forms. History stands in witness to speak volumes for great revolutions that occurred in the world.

Over-population in our country has become the cause of many problems. After crossing the stunning figure of 10 million a few years ago, it is still increasing at an alarming speed. Unemployed youth do not hesitate to resort to commit crime and joining anti-social elements. They also adopt corrupt means to amass money. But the most effective tool that can prevent the speed of the increase in population is the spread of education. Its speed must be curtailed; otherwise the engine of our country’s economic progress will be derailed.

So, all human beings must be educated so that they may see, feel and understand life in its wider perspective.

Unfortunately, some parents do not allow their daughters to get higher education. They themselves are uneducated and narrow-minded. They think that there is no use of spending money on daughters as they will be married off. 

This type of thinking is very bad. Such parents do not know about the benefit of educating a girl. If a boy is educated, one person is educated. If a girl is educated, the whole family is educated. After marriage, she will educate her family. Now-a-days, the government is doing a lot of work to make people aware about the importance of education.

 The traditional thinking of the parents is giving way to a new one. The result is that girls are outshining boys almost in every field of life. Think of any field of life, you will find Indian girls working shoulder to shoulder with boys. They take part in sports and bring medals for the country. They are being recruited in army for higher posts. They may become the CEOS of a company. They may attain any high position in our country. We have so many examples of women attaining high positions in civil services and political field.

Thus, the education of girls is very necessary for the development of our country. 

Educated parents will produce the best citizens for the country. That will be a giant step in the way to progress. So, let us come forward to make the parents of our country take part in the mission to educate the girls.

The person who has legal rights to live permanently in a country, is called a citizen of that country. Every citizen has certain duties and responsibility to perform in a natural way. The citizens who perform their duties and responsibilities honestly are called the ideal citizens.

He is ready to offer help to the needy persons according to his capacity. He is not only kind to human beings, but also to all the creatures on the earth. He is an honest person and does all his duties honestly. He is loyal to his country, family and his friends.

He is a great patriot. So he is ready to sacrifice his life if there is need for that. He obeys the rules of the country. Wherever he goes, he wins the hearts of the people around him by means of his virtues and good manners. He is very polite to all.  He never breaks any system. If he has to wait for his turn in a long queue, he does it patiently. He never loses temper because his emotions are always in his control.

He performs his responsibility towards his country, society and family with full honesty. Everyone is proud of him and always yearns for his company. He is appreciated by all. He is a friend of all.

Visiting places is always a very good experience. It keeps our knowledge updated about the recent developments and the geographical conditions of various places. It also entertains us as we have a very jolly good time together with our family, friends, relatives or colleagues. I had a chance to visit the Chhatbir Zoo in the month of February last year. The trip was arranged by our school. We reached the zoo by bus. We all were full of excitement to see various birds and animals in one place. As we entered it, we saw so many birds of different species. They looked very beautiful. I had never seen some of them. We also saw wild animals in separate habitats prepared by the zoo authorities. Some of these wild animals were: jackals, wolves, monkeys,, elephants, rhinoceroses, bears, panthers, lions, etc. We also saw small creatures and small animals like lizards, tortoises, porcupines, mongooses, snakes, etc. All these animals were well looked after and every care for their food, health, and comfort was taken into account. The zoo is spread over a vast area of about six kilometers. We took a round in three hours. As we all were tired, our teachers advised us to sit on the lawn and have some snacks and cold drinks. After relaxing for half an hour, we came out of the zoo, sat in our buses, and reached home at night. It was really a great experience for everyone.
