Our constitution ensures equality between men and women. But some kind of discrimination between them is still present in our country. Women have equal rights, but they are socially considered inferior to men. They have to face several restrictions put on their freedom. They can move the court if they want, but all women do not dare to break the strong wall of inequality created by men. In rural areas, some women have to remain imprisoned in the four walls of their houses. They are not allowed to move out freely. They are not given proper education. They are still the victims of social evils. Men consider it their right to torture and enslave them.

But the situation in urban areas has changed greatly. The educated women are well aware of their rights and duties. Even the educated men respect women’s rights. The change is visible when we see women working shoulder to shoulder with men in every field of life. The Government is doing a lot in removing the gender discrimination from the country. Various schemes have been launched to uplift the status of women. Help-line numbers have been made public to stop crime against women. General awareness about equality of women with men is being spread by means of print and electronic media. We hope that in near future there would be a great change in the mindset of men who are still backward in their thoughts.
